Library 2.0
I like the changes, the adaptations to the world of Web 2.0. I enjoyed reading the articles.
Here at a local public library, we help people who are novices and are easily flustered by home pages. How do we keep up with Web 2.0 and help those who are at the "kindergarten" level?
Could we "toggle" between the stylish, highly interactive mosaic of web pages and a simple "kindergarten" style of providing information. We have the option to see the web in different languages, but has anyone created an alternative style of home page and "search results" for those who don't use the web regularly. "SearchingforDummies.com" or call it "start.com" I wish I could think of something very humorous and catchy, but not today.

week 6 # 13
I liked HCPLbiblio account in del.icio.us. I looked at two sites that had over thousand people tag it. Both were great web sites one for students of philosophy and the other on mythology.
Do you think I should use del.icio.us, before using google.com or ask.com...I think so!!!
I searched for iHCPL in del.icio.us and found that slacker manager had over 300 people who liked his explanations. I liked them too.
The generator blog looks likes iStar's twin.

I found the above site through del.icio.us. I was looking for funny stories and none of the results seemed interesting, so I selected the tag for science.
This site called oddee found a research study done at North Carolina University that came to the conclusion that if you increase the amount of air time for country music, the suicide rate for whites increased. Then it had a funny photo that cut and pasted , Pres. Bush playing the guitar in front of the New Orleans Superdome when people were trying to survive Katrina catastrophe.

Library Elf
This is a useful service, especially for people in Houston. For example, a college student could keep track of all their library accounts. The accounts for U of H, Houston Public, Harris County and Fort Bend County could all be viewed with one log on, rather than going to each library web site.

I made an avatar by starting at FDToys. I selected Lolcat generator and made an avatar from one of my flikr photos. This application lets you add text to a photo. I put the altered cat photo with text in my blog profile. Lolcat generator was very, very easy to use.

RSS
as far as searching goes Bloglines and Technorati seem to be the most user friendly at first glance, but that turns out to because they are visually more appealing. Topix is the place to search newsfeeds. Feedster can isolate news feeds from others, better than bloglines.
